Psalm 73:26 — 'My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.'

The psalmist starts with realism. Bodies fail. Hearts fail. Health goes. Courage goes. He doesn't pretend otherwise.

But the contrast is glorious. When my strength runs out, God is the strength of my heart. Not advice on how to be stronger. He himself is the strength inside.

Portion is inheritance language. In the Old Testament every tribe got a portion of land — except the Levites, whose portion was God. The psalmist takes that for himself. My share is God.

And forever pushes past death. Whatever else you lose, you don't lose this. The portion lasts.
