John 10:10: 'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.'
Jesus is contrasting himself with false shepherds — religious leaders who used the flock for personal gain. They take. He gives.
'Life' translates zoe, the rich Greek word for full, flourishing existence. Not just biological breath but life as it was meant to be lived.
'Abundantly' means overflowing, more than enough, beyond what you'd expect. Jesus doesn't dispense life by the teaspoon.
If you've encountered a version of Christianity that subtracts, restricts, and shrinks you, you've met the counterfeit. Jesus came to make you more alive, not less.
