Acts 1:8: 'You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.'

These are Jesus's final words before ascending. They function as the table of contents for the book of Acts.

Notice the order: power first, then witness. The disciples don't manufacture courage — they receive it.

The mission expands geographically: home base, surrounding region, despised neighbors, the ends of the earth. The gospel was always meant to go everywhere.

'You will be my witnesses' — not 'do witnessing' but 'be witnesses.' A witness simply tells what they've seen and experienced of Jesus.
