Romans 10:9: 'If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.'
Two things: confess Jesus as Lord, believe God raised him. Mouth and heart. Public word and inner trust.
'Jesus is Lord' was the earliest Christian creed. In Rome, where 'Caesar is Lord' was required, saying 'Jesus is Lord' could cost you everything.
Belief 'in your heart' isn't sentimental. The heart in biblical terms is the control center — your deepest trust and commitment.
Notice resurrection is central. Not just Jesus's death — his rising. A dead Savior saves no one. A risen Lord changes everything.
