Romans 12:1: 'I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.'
Eleven chapters of theology, and now Paul says: therefore. Everything that follows is the response to God's mercy.
'Living sacrifice' is a deliberate paradox. Old Testament sacrifices were killed. Christian worship offers a body that keeps living, serving, and loving.
Your body matters. Not just your soul or your beliefs. What you do with your hands, your hours, your appetites is worship.
'Spiritual worship' literally means reasonable, rational worship. Given who God is and what he's done, giving him your whole life is the only sensible response.
