Ephesians 4:32: 'Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.'
Three commands stacked together: kind, tenderhearted, forgiving. None of these are feelings — they're choices.
Tenderhearted means soft, compassionate, easily moved by others' pain. The opposite of calloused.
'Forgiving one another' is the hardest one. And Paul anchors it in the only place strong enough to carry the weight: 'as God in Christ forgave you.'
'As' means in the same manner. Fully, freely, before the offender even asks. If you've received that, you can extend it. If you can't extend it, you may not have fully grasped that you received it.
