Deuteronomy 31:6: 'Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.'
Moses is about to die. Joshua will lead Israel into Canaan. The challenges ahead are immense.
'Be strong and courageous.' Courage isn't the absence of fear; it's moving forward despite fear because of who's with you.
'It is the Lord your God who goes with you.' That's the reason for courage. The God of all power goes ahead and beside.
'Will not leave you or forsake you.' Hebrews 13:5 picks up this exact promise and applies it to us. The promise hasn't expired.
