Judges 6:12: 'And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor.'
Gideon is hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat in secret because the Midianites would steal it. He's the opposite of a mighty man of valor.
But God greets him with the title before he's earned it. 'Mighty man of valor.' That's how God sees him.
God sees what you will become through him, not just what you are right now. His call is shaped by your future identity, not your current weakness.
Faith is agreeing with God's view of you. Gideon will spend the next chapters growing into the name God gave him in a winepress.
